DECKSOUTH was founded in 1997 by John Lea with one thought in mind; “offer custom designs executed with professional installation to provide guaranteed satisfaction to the customer.” For more than a decade that same vision is lived out daily at DECKSOUTH.

Over the years DECKSOUTH has been on the leading edge of product development. We have been pioneers in installing non-wood composite decking as well as introducing some of today’s hardwoods into the market such as Garapa and IPE. Our knowledge of all of the latest products ensures that our customers are getting the very best in new technology.

DECKSOUTH has grown throughout the last decade to now include two owners and two locations in the Atlanta Metro area. John Lea and Mike Reasons are daily involved in all aspects of the business, assuring that the finished product lives up to the company's mission statement and standards. DECKSOUTH's design consultants are not a commissioned sales staff, they will walk you through your project from the initial consultation to the final walk through. DECKSOUTH's goal is to ensure that the project that we build is something we would be proud to have in our own backyard.

John Lea is the founder of Decksouth, which he started with the desire to service the Atlanta area with unmatched professionalism in the deck/porch building market. Although the business has changed a lot since its early days, the mission has remained the same. John has been offering custom designs and high quality craftsmanship coupled with some of today’s best products, for more than 15 years now. His award winning projects have earned him national recognition. Raised in the metro Atlanta area, John has seen Atlanta’s growth and development. He also has seen Atlanta’s needs change over the years and has adapted the business accordingly. Working with all the composite products on the market over the last decade as well as being one of the first in the southeast to import, sell and install Exotic hardwood decking, John has positioned Decksouth as an industry leader. John has taken his knowledge and skills to teach, train, and expand the business into the success it is today. John earned his BS from the University of Tennessee- Chattanooga. John resides in the metro Atlanta area.

Mike Reasons - Originally from Nashville, TN and a graduate of Samford University. Mike lives in the Suwanee area with his wife and two children. With over 9 years in the building products industry, including time working with a leading decking manufacturer, Mike has the unique ability to combine his knowledge of the latest products with years of decking experience to help homeowners select the right choice for their specific needs. He enjoys the design and consultation process, transforming the homeowners' vision into a reality.
